Jon Leatherbarrow (1971-2010) Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Jon Leatherbarrow (1971-2010) Memorial Scholarship Fund was established with the intent of funding environmental science or environmental engineering students and projects. In his short life, Jon was committed to the environment, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed supporting Engineers Without Borders and their projects. He attended the University of California - Davis and received his PhD in Environmental Engineering posthumously. At the time of his sudden death he had been rehired by the San Fransisco Estuary Institute (SFEI), devoted to continue his works as a research scientist to improve water quality in San Fransisco Bay and its tributaries. Jon had worked for SFEI for over eight years before starting his PhD program at UC Davis.

In memory of Jon and to honor his excellent contributions to science, his collegial support, and warm friendship, many people contributed to the memorial scholarship fund that was established in his name through SFEI.

Jon left an unforgettable mark with many of us and will always be remembered.

The Nicaragua Project, SED team expresses sincere gratitude for this honor and is committed to do well with this generous investment.
